Each year, the need for these life-changing partnerships continues to grow — and today, we have an extraordinary opportunity to expand our impact for generations to come.

Our new campus will provide the space and specialized facilities needed to breed, raise, train, and place more exceptional service dogs than ever before. Designed to support every stage of a dog’s journey, this new home will strengthen our ability to serve individuals, families, and facilities across Virginia.

Why we need to grow

We are unable to meet the increasing demand for service dogs throughout the state, and the limitations of our physical space make it impossible to place more dogs.

Today, one shared training space must serve multiple purposes — dog training, family meetings, puppy classes, and exercise —with no ability to run these programs simultaneously. Limited kennel capacity forces dogs to be in office space during the day and also results in staff and volunteers housing our dogs in training, restricting the number we can train and place each year.

At the same time, we need the ability to breed and raise more qualified puppies. While SDV has access to proven working dog bloodlines through the International Breeding Cooperative, we currently lack a dedicated space to whelp and raise litters safely and consistently.

As a result, individuals in need often face waiting periods averaging two years, and some high-demand programs must periodically close applications altogether.

Naming Opportunities

Leave a legacy that changes lives. Naming opportunities are available in our new facility and provide a meaningful way to honor a loved one, celebrate a family or business, or show your commitment to our mission.

Monetary Gifts

A monetary gift is the easiest and most direct way to support our building campaign.

Gifts of Stock

Give the gift of a highly-appreciated stock. You'll avoid capital gains and take a full-value deduction on your tax returns.

IRA Gifts or Qualified Charitable Distributions

You can avoid taxes for your annual required distribution by donating from your investments.

Matching Gifts

Many employers will match gifts to a nonprofit. If your company has such a program, all you have to do is send us their completed matching gift form, we'll take care of the rest!

Multi-Year Pledge

A multi-year pledge is a simple way to support Service Dogs of Virginia's building campaign. Donors may fulfill their commitment through payments made over a period of up to 3 years, helping us create a permanent home for our programs while spreading their gift over time.

OUr Progress

Construction is underway.

We're currently clearing the lot and establishing site access — laying the groundwork for concrete work and the arrival of prefabricated panels this fall.

Every step forward brings us closer to a campus built to train and place more service dogs than ever before.
