We are thrilled that you are considering partnering with Service Dogs of Virginia. We Before submitting this form, please read the following information:

  • In order to save time and streamline the process, be sure you have read about Programs, Applicant Criteria, How to Apply and FAQs .

  • Currently the average wait time for a service dog is between 2-3 years.

  • We will communicate with you about your application almost exclusively via email starting with an acknowledgement after you sublimit this form. If you don’t see the acknowledgement within 1 hour, please check your SPAM folder or email us at clients@servicedogsva.org.

  • We will be accepting applications until August 23, 2026. After that, applications will be closed until January, 2027.

  • Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to handle the service dog alone without their parent or guardian present in any public location, including at schools.

  • Guide work for the blind

  • Hearing dogs for those with hearing impairment(s)

  • Seizure alert/response

  • Balance support while walking

  • Allergy detection

  • Psychiatric Service Dogs

  • Provide supervision, navigation, or safety from environmental hazards, aggression or personal protection

  • Solely for emotional comfort or social support

  • Does not provide owner training.
