Augie
Augie, named by The Heiser Foundation, is a charming girl with a unique sideways zipper across her nose. During recent construction at home, she handled the noise well but has become overly excited when people come to the door. Her raiser is now working on making door openings a positive experience, aiming to shift Augie’s focus to her trainer for treats rather than rushing or jumping.

Bika
Bika’s name, inspired by the Portuguese word for espresso, perfectly captures her lively and energetic nature. Though her impulsive behavior is typical of our puppies, we believe that with time and experience, she will learn to make more thoughtful decisions and direct her energy productively. Bika is smart and eager to learn, so we’re confident she’ll thrive, bringing her characteristic spunk and vigor to every challenge.

Remy
Remy is a bit of a goody two shoes—usually laid back and easygoing. If he were a student, he’d undoubtedly be the teacher’s pet (no pun intended), with some of the other kids looking on with a touch of envy. His easy-going demeanor allows him to learn new skills quickly. He has been in a respite home while his teenaged raiser attended camp and was quick to adjust to new surroundings. Remy is a delightful youngster.

Stratos
Stratos, named by corporate sponsors Stratos Solutions, has become a star at the Pentagon, where he accompanies his puppy raiser to work. Recently, a veteran raiser helped him with common puppy issues, leading to improvements in playing with other dogs, maintaining focus during outings, demonstrating better house manners, and walking nicely on a leash. Our focus now is to support his novice raiser to build on this progress and guide Stratos in his development.

Penny
Penny, named by HomeBase Credit Union, is a patient, intelligent pup with a keen, curious mind. Her regular raiser worked hard on her early training and are grateful her respite provider continued this training during the raiser’s vacation. Penny adapted well to the temporary home and returned with enhanced skills and a positive experience. A bit older than her classmates, Penny often demonstrates cues that are new to them but already mastered by her, highlighting her advanced learning progress.

Sherwood
Sherwood, affectionately known as “Woody”. named by The Heiser Foundation in memory of Gary Sherwood. His relaxed nature aids his training, making it easy for him to master skills like leash walking, nail trimming, and commands such as "sit" and "down." Woody also shows impressive self-control, ignoring food when told to "leave it." Unlike his distracted classmates, Woody remains calm and patiently waits for cues, showcasing remarkable focus for his age.

Nitro
Nitro, named by a longtime SDV supporter, understands commands like "sit," "down," "watch me," and "leave it." He has a strong aversion to restraint, so we're gradually helping him associate compliance with rewards. Nitro is also learning to walk nicely on a leash; his trainer stops and waits for him to refocus before rewarding him with a treat. While eager to play, he’s learning to redirect his attention effectively with calm guidance from his handler.

Nouri
Born on the Fourth of July, Nouri whose name mean “light of the world” is the one of the youngest trainees at SDV. Since she still quite young so it is hard to ascribe too many attributes but as a whole, we can share that she is affectionate, and loves to play.

Perry
Named by the Perry Foundation, Perry is the sibling of Nouri and has just embarked on his year of puppy training. As a young pup, he demonstrates confidence and a keen eagerness to learn. We have high expectations for this little guy and are excited to see the progress he makes.
