Do the artists get paid?
Yes. Each artist who is selected to design a dog will receive $300 plus 10% of the auction sale amount.
What’s the deadline for submitting an artist application?
The deadline for submitting an artist application is November 1, 2005.
When will artists be notified as to whether or not their design has been selected?
Artists will be notified no later than November 15, 2025 as to whether or not their design has been selected.
How long will artist have to complete the final work?
Statues will be available for artists to collect between December 1, 2005, and January 30, 2006. Final statues must be completed no later than March 30, 2006.
Will the artist own the copyright to their design?
No. If an artist’s design is selected, Service Dogs of Virginia becomes the sole owner of the copyright.
What is the exact size of the statues?
28.5"H x 36"L x 9”D
What’s the deadline for registering to be a sponsor?
Sponsor registration date is November 1, 2005. If you are interested in contributing after that date, please Contact Us.
When will the statues be on public display around town and where will I be able to find them?
The statues will be on public display around Charlottesville from mid-July 2026 through mid-October 2026. The exact locations of the statues will be publicized in the spring of 2026.
Where and when will the auction be held?
The auction will be held on October 24, 2026 at the CODE building in downtown Charlottesville.
How do I get tickets to the auction?
Auction tickets will be available through our website starting in July of 2026.
