Bringing It Full Circle

Posted May 16, 2012

Our Open House event on April 28 was a standing-room-only event! One of the highlights of the day came when I00-year old Irene DuBois got to meet Woody, autism service dog, and his recipient, Logan Beltran and Logan's family. For her Centenarian birthday earlier this year friends and family honored Irene's wish to sponsor Woody (through our Sponsor a Dog program) in lieu of gifts. Irene and her friends raised almost $2,000 to go toward Woody's training. Being able to connect a donor directly with the person/people who will benefit from their generosity is always a thrill for those of us here on a day-to-day basis at Service Dogs of VA. Not included in the photo, but also present at the gathering, were Woody's breeder, Pam Hand, and his puppy raiser, Nancy Koch. Talk about bringing it all full circle! What a day!
